Arrived in St. Jean Pied de Port today after an early morning flight from Paris.
St. Jean and surrounding country-side is beautiful. Those hills...mountains.... do look a bit daunting.
We'll see tomorrow.
Our room in the albergue Pellerin. I am in the top bunk but, thankfully there is a side rail.
Laundry facilities in the albergue.
Backyard of the albergue.
We start here tomorrow morning at 8 am.
Tune in tomorrow to see how we made out on our first day of walking.
Buen Camino! Just take one step at a time and enjoy the scenery and the experience.
ReplyDeleteThe forecast is for sunny and pleasant, low 70's F, and then warmer by mid-week, but still sunny. Hydrate!
Wishing you all the very best!

I will read your blog and be with you in spirit, hopefully my spirit will help you walk along. My legs sure wouldn't help you. Good luck. I am enjoying your blog very much. Keep us all posted. Did you take your mittens to sell along the way or trade for food and water? Love Susan.
ReplyDeleteThanks to everyone for the comments. It is encouraging to know people are following the blog and offering support for the physical challenge I am about to face in 2 hours. I did have a good sleep in my top bunk and the coffee is smelling good. Susan, I do have knitting with me but I am keeping that hidden....it may have to be ditched!
