Sunrise at Villafranca.
An oft-repeated phrase on the Camino is "Always look back." This has a few meanings--because we are always traveling west, we need to remember to turn around to see what we're missing, such as the sunrise. You also need to look back to make sure you're not forgetting something.....such as your socks!! And, no doubt, there is looking back at your past.....
The vegetation and terrain changes almost daily. Today's walk was relatively gentle compared to what we were doing last week.
Oak woods for much of today. The sky was overcast and it was almost chilly.
Saw a couple walking hand in hand. Imagine!
More sunflowers.
Stopped for a break in San Juan de Ortega...population 20.
Staying in Ages tonight--population 60.
Beautiful church in San Juan de Ortega. Unfortunately, due to the problem with reservations/accommodations, we are not spending enough time being tourists as we spend so much time ensuring we have a place to sleep. Tom has added a travel pack plan to my phone so that should help. Now, if I could just speak Spanish.....
This is my home which I wear on my back. It weighs about 16 pounds. I am thinking of renovating this afternoon.
My musical entertainment today was Neil Young (Americana), First Aid Kit (thanks Julia), and Emmylou (Stumble into Grace ---how appropriate!)

ReplyDeleteThanks Susan, for all the encouragement!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful picyures some of the terrain is so similar to Canada. I, too am enjoying your journey. I rewatched "The Way" much more meaning for me this time. Off to Fredericton tomorrow the Saint John River is being declared a Canadian Heritage River! Enjoy your journey. Blessings to you and your fellow travellers.
